Have bought and loved every main title Total War game since the first one Shogun Total War.
I avoided the big issues with release so I never had the problems most people did. And everyone that has the normal edition of Rome 2 gets a free upgrade to the Emperor's Edition which includes a free add on pack.
Speaking of add ons there are a lot of add ons for this game. An extra £59.90 at the time of writing this.
You will only get the Imperator Augustus campaign for free.
There are 3 other campaigns: Ceaser in Gaul, Hannibal at the Gates & Wrath of Sparta. Each is a fun campaign set in specific areas of the map which have been expanded upon with a few new units, objectives and designs.
There are then 4 culture packs (one of the most controversial of the add ons). These will allow you to play one of the previously unplayable factions, some with a few added units, but mostly the exact same as when faced the AI using them. These cultures are the Greek states, Black Sea colonies (Greeks with barbarians), Nomadic Tribes and the Pirates and Raiders.
There are 3 other add ons which are 2 unit packs and a blood pack.
All in all though it is a enjoyable game. But it does drag on a little with the victory conditions and is annoying with the add ons that many would want for a different starting location and set of challenges. Best wait for a steam sale with the add ons.
