Uplay Download Button Not Working

Comments

  • I haven't had this issue, but do you have an icon on your desktop? Maybe try clicking that rather than going through Origin? Or see if going offline in Origin will bring up the play button again. Or try logging out and logging back in. Or maybe restarting your computer? Just some suggestions. I hope someone else can give you more info.

  • Hey, i tried all of that.. It's so weird it won't start.. and if a reinstall everything will be gone ): Also.. it says i only played 5 hours (cas) But yesterday it said i played 13 hours.. Now back to 5 hours.. Ugh why can't i play it anymore..
  • If you re-install, your saved families will be there, I have the digital version and I had to re-download the whole thing, and the family I did when I started playing was there. The process should be easier with the disk version, since you don't have to download anything.

I have the same issue right now. At first I assumed it must be Origin updating the game files or something, but no. After playing for ages last night, I can't get the game to run from any shortcuts and the 'Play' button won't work.
So your problem sorted itself out on its own?
  • Hi im having the same problem, I played it fine yesterday, came on this morning and play button greyed out :( I just uninstalled, and when clicked to reinstall it did nothing, so I closed origin and reopened it, and it came up with download, so im having to re download it now :(
  • I am having the same problem. It's currently 6:28 am where I am and I played until 11pm last night. Now my play button is greyed out. It says I've played for 24 hours. Does anyone know what's going on? I'd prefer not to have to reinstall.
  • Oh no. That's rough. Well I hope it works.
I don't want to uninstall/reinstall if I don't really need to. I'm going to keep trying to work out what the issue is.

Oh, I tried offline mode in origin, booting from the icon on my desktop instead of through origin, and going through the actual disc.
  • I've tried running it via the desktop icon and the Origin system tray menu. I bought a digital key, so no disc.
It's a shame Origin doesn't have a similar feature to Steam, where you can verify the game files (Steam will scan your installation and will re-download any missing or problematic files). There doesn't seem to be much I can do within Origin itself.
I might just have to play Sims 3 for a bit, and hope the fairies sort it out in the mean time.
  • Hi the redownload/install worked I can play...but its not the point, it shouldn't be happening -_-
  • This happened to me this morning. Still in the process of fixing it.

OK, thanks tonisimstar. I suppose I should just try that.
After reading this thread: gamefaqs.com/boards/719099-titanfall/68768030 I tried exiting Origin, moving TS4.exe out of the 'The Sims 4Gamebin' folder, logging back into Origin and clicking install to see if I could force it to check the game files. No joy though.
  • Here is another solution that worked for some but not myself or some others.
Try Clearing out the origin cache
Ensure Origin is fully closed by clicking the Origin Menu and selecting Exit.
    Delete the following folders:
Origin folder - Found in C:ProgramData
Origin folder - Found in C:Users%USERNAME%AppDataLocal
Origin folder - Found in C:Users%USERNAME%AppDataRoaming
Note: These folders are hidden by default, and the player will need to un-hide to be able to locate them.
    to unhide folders:
-type folder options in the search field in the start menu
    -click on the view tab
-under the hidden folders options click show hidden files, folders, and drives- apply the setting and click ok

shut down your game and origin (log out and exit), reboot your pc, open origin, there is an update just released. Once the update has downloaded you can then get to play your game again.
I had the same thing it just needed Origin to update
  • Great, thanks KitOnlyHuman and litabelaqua.
I'd already done the uninstall/reinstall thing (which seems to have worked) when I saw your posts, but next time this happens (and it probably will) I'll try your solutions.
  • The uninstall/reinstall hasn't worked for me. I'm going to restart my computer and try again.

  • I fixed it!
I removed the TS4 application from my Game->Bin->TS4 and cut/pasted it to my desktop. Then I tried to 'Install' The Sims 4 through Origin.
It installed for a second, making a TS4.par file in the bin. Then I pasted the TS4 appplication back into the Bin folder and it had the play button and started up.
I'll let you guys know if something breaks somewhere.

  • Fantastic. That's the effect I was hoping to achieve before I went for the reinstall. Glad you found a working method though.
Did you exit Origin in between letting it install for a moment and replacing the TS4 application?
  • Hey,
I have a tiny question.. I played sims 4 yesterday evening.. and i want to play it again now.. But i came to origin and the play button is greyed out (unclickable) so i can't play it?! I tried to start it via the game disc, but it connects to origin.. so again, can't play ? Can someone help me please..

Maybe you need internet connection or just restart the game that may work.

No. I just let it do the short install, then placed the application back in and it worked.
